Last month, our crew at More Love Letters came together for a Monday Mission in honor of Ray, a father diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in December 2012. Ray received his love letters this week and we were so very blessed to get a testimony in our inbox from both him and his daughter. We invite you to breathe these words in deep and share them with someone else who needs a little more hope in humanity. These testimonies are truly the bee’s knees.
Thank you so very much for selecting my father as a recipient for more love letters. What a pleasant rush of excitement it was when I found your 8×11 golden envelope in his mailbox last week. At first, I didn’t know who this package could be from. Then, when I opened the envelope and saw all the colorful cards and letters inside, I knew instantly. And I was ecstatic! I hurried into the house to bring the Love Bundle to my dad. He’d been having a rough morning, and the Bundle was just what he needed. He read every last letter that day – over 70! We read the letters with him -we laughed, we cried, we reminisced, we cherished the moment. It was a beautiful experience to be surrounded by so many well-wishes and kind words.
My father was filled with so much energy after reading those letters – he’s even decided to make a collage out of them, a project he’s begun. He plans to frame the collage and hang it proudly on the walls of his office. In closing, I leave you with a statement of gratitude that my dad wrote. Thank you again so much for this beautiful website, this beautiful community, and the beautiful kindness of both yourself and the thousands of strangers that you have united in love.
To all my new and wonderful friends,
I thank you all for your kindness, support, love, and prayers. My lovely daughter began this outpouring of love when she contacted moreloveletters.com. My daughter Lily is the joy of my life. She has brought me so much happiness and love and I am extremely happy that God has put her in our lives. This illness has made me realize that even when you feel like you had enough and you pray that God will take you so you won’t have to go through the pain and suffering, that God has another plan for you and that your strength comes from Him. I have recently completed my final chemo treatment and I know that God is on my side and that he will get me through this. I know that thousands of people, friends, and family are hurting when I’m hurting, crying when I’m crying, and praying when I’m praying. In addition, I know that my beautiful wife, my daughter, my son, my daughter-in-law, and my grand kids were hurting, crying, and praying for my return to good health. It is because of these prayers of love and good health from family, friends, and new friends who I have never met that God will answer these prayers and guide me to total and complete healing. And with it, a new and strong healthy body. I don’t know any of you but I pray that some day, I may get to meet some of you. With all my love, please know that I love each and every one of you.
